POSITION PURPOSE AND GENERAL SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the long-term marketing & communication vision of the company  which promotes its unique position in the marketplace. Responsibilities include planning, development and implementation of all marketing strategies and marketing communications, both external and internal. Oversees development and implementation of support materials and services in the area of marketing and communications. Directs all efforts of marketing and communications and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of within the organization.

SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES        

1. Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision and identity of the company.

2. Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing and communications program that will enhance the company's image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.

3. Manage the strategic and creative design of the marketing and communications activities and materials including:

a. Website, Social Media

b. Video production

c. Media Relations

4. Responsible for editorial direction, design, production, approval and distribution of all publications.

5. Coordinate the appearance of all print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.

6. Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.

7. Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance and resource materials to assist various departments and regions in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.

8. Regularly conduct relevant market research and monitor trends.

9. Leads special projects as assigned, such as re-branding/logo development, and capital campaign communications plan.

10. Responsible for the achievement of marketing and communications mission, goals and financial objectives. Ensure that evaluation systems, including benchmarks, are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Senior Management Team (SMT) for organizational advancement and external relations.

11. Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing and communications program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.

12. Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing and communications function.

13. Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing and communications, and not-for-profit management and governance, and the specific business of the organization and use this information to help the organization operate with initiative and innovation.

14. Provide support to the CEO and SMT, and selected others in public affairs matters and marketing and writing activities.

15. Maintains a high level of dependability to include attendance at work and punctuality.

 

GENERAL DUTIES:

1. Performs job assignments with attention to, and in compliance with, the company's mission, values, and ethics, and with a positive attitude; cooperates with others inside and outside the organization. Communicates in an appropriate and professional manner with others inside and outside the organization.

2. Keeps sensitive information relative to the organization, employees, and/or the people we support confidential and adheres to the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

3. Completes mandatory orientation program and annual training programs; completes applicable attendance documentation; shares newly acquired information with fellow employees; attends and participates in applicable meetings, committees, and/or ad hoc work groups.

4. Performs assignments in accordance with the organization's safety and health program; reports safety/health hazards or violations of safety/health policies to assigned supervisor.

5. Uses, maintains, and safeguards equipment, supplies, financial resources, etc. in an appropriate manner and in the best interest of the organization; reports needed equipment repairs.

6. Performs other similar and related duties as necessary and/or as assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements :

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, and/or public relations or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Willingness to take advantage of professional learning opportunities that will increase the working knowledge and skill base.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations or related field, with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit sector, human services or related field. 10+ years of experience preferred.

 

SPECIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES

1. Understands, appreciate, and articulate the mission of the company; and has a desire and ability to work collaboratively with varied constituencies, including the CEO, SMT, directors and managers, staff and people we support.

2. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing and communications activities.

3. Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.

4. Experience developing and managing budgets.

5. Experience with the design and production of print materials and publications, website management, and social media content creation and management.

6. Excellent communications skills, with a solid knowledge of English grammar and the ability to present ideas in a clear and concise way, both verbally and in writing

7. Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout including experience with Adobe Creative Suites and MS Office product and other general-purpose tools (Acrobat, FTP, multiple Internet browsers, etc.)

8. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

9. Ability to blend attractive design and high functionality in all projects.

10. Excellent working knowledge of major social media channels including Facebook and Twitter; Blogging experience within the digital sector.

11. Personable and approachable, with an enthusiastic and motivational nature and an overall passion for excellence.

12. Ability to organize workload, adapt quickly to change, provide accurate information, and deliver under the pressure of deadlines.

13. Ability to maintain a high level of activity and productivity; sustaining long working hours when necessary.

14. Detail oriented with a high degree of knowledge of essential duties.

15. Must be able to receive constructive criticism well.

16. Ability to work independently and responsibly while managing numerous projects simultaneously in a time sensitive environment, but still work in a team-oriented environment; develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.

17. Ability to maintain punctuality and attendance at work.

Valid Driver's License Required.
